Wonderful Achievements of Radiotelegraphy in War and Peace, The

Pre-war radio transmissions were primarily point-to-point messages, while post-war radio transmissions were dominated by broadcasts (and the public feverishly snapped up consumer receivers to hear them). The 1927 Federal Radio Act severely restricted non-big-business radio transmission, and DIY radio hobby publications quickly reduced in number thereafter.

It is ironic that "Digital" and "Solid-State", which dominates modern radio, actually pre-dates Analog and Vacuum Tube technology.
